    3. Hello, Do not know much of the Welsby family other than the lady who owned the Milliners was Doris Welsby and at the time we lived there she would have been around 40 years of age. Around the corner in Mersey Street there was an alley (past Greenwood Furniture) and a Coal Merchant kept his horse and Wagon there. I used to go to feed the horse (huge beast) an apple. There was a cafe in Bridge Street near the Milliners - I think it was Mannions - we used to get meals from there sometimes ( not called Takeaways in those days).
