Hi Peter and list, This is what I have on my BRETHERTON family. My ancestor is Richard Bretherton born 1807 in Warrington. He married Frances Lilian DICKINS in Chelsea in 1835. They were in London for the birth of Louisa in 1838 but in 1849 were on their way to Australia. I don't have them on the 1841 census, hopefully when it comes online with Ancestry we'll find them. From the Vital Records we found the christenings of five children including our Richard. Richard's parents were Richard Bretherton and Mary Wilson. Richard and Mary Bretherton had children Jesse and Samuel baptized 1805 Warrington, Richard in 1807, then William 1809 and Sarah 1811. There is a marriage for a Richard to Mary Willson at Winwick in 1790 on the IGI but I'm not sure if these are the same people. If it is them, then there should have been more children between 1790 an 1805. Possibles - I found a marriage on the IGI of a Jessie Bretherton to Elizabeth GIBSON in 1829 in Warrington - they had a daughter Agnes. There is also a marriage of William to Mary Ann WRIGHT in 1830 in Warrington and children William, Ann and Jane. And a marriage of a Sarah Bretherton to Samuel CHRIMES in 1828 in Warrington. I know Mary Wilson is Richard's mother as she is mentioned on a couple of documents so that's not a problem, but there is absolutely no other information. Parish records may at least give additional information. Thank you so much for any help.
