    3. My grandfather and great grandfather were called Isaac Smith (married 1852) - the latter's father was called James. We've explored the Bank Quay Isaac Smith before and found no link with my lineage, which was based in School Brow and Howley, on the old Church St side of town. Both first names and obviously surnames are of course common enough, and it may be there's no relation. The possibility remains, though, of some family connection - on my paternal grandmother's side I found an Agnes Thomason (her name), also a fustian cutter, who we worked out to be her aunt on her father's side. If you do find any links with the (Isaac) Smiths from the Church St side of Warringotn, I'd be very grateful to hear about them.
