Mike, I spent a bit of time on this one. I found the family from Charlotte's first marriage in 1881 Census Household: Name Relation Marital Status Gender Age Birthplace Occupation Disability Charlotte TURTON Head M Female 39 Ashton, Lancashire, England Coal Miners Widow James TURTON Son U Male 18 Haydock, Lancashire, England Coal Miner John TURTON Son U Male 16 Platt Bridge, Lancashire, England Coal Miner David TURTON Son Male 14 Haydock, Lancashire, England Coal Miner William TURTON Son Male 12 Haydock, Lancashire, England Coal Miner Ebenezer TURTON Son Male 10 Haydock, Lancashire, England Scholar Lydia TURTON Daur Female 9 Haydock, Lancashire, England Scholar Edith TURTON Daur Female 3 Haydock, Lancashire, England -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source Information: Dwelling Haydock Lane Census Place Haydock, Lancashire, England Family History Library Film 1341906 Public Records Office Reference RG11 Piece / Folio 3788 / 60 Page Number 42 On FreeBMD, I found the subsequent marriage of Charlotte to Peter Cunliffe in Sept Qtr 1884. But then it got difficult. There were a number of deaths for Peter Cunliffe between 1884 marriage and 1891 census. The ages suggest a wide gap between his age and Charlotte. One might be 10 years older, another 10 years younger. So you can't be certain. I tried to find Charlotte or any of the children in 1891. I could find only Lydia, living with a family named Ashton and listed incorrectly as daughter. The only four Edith possibilities in Lancashire were all under 5 five. There was no Ebenezer match. There seemed to be matches for the older children James, John, David and William, but these had all left home and married. It suggests that Peter, Charlotte, Ebenezer and Edith all died before 1891. There is nothing on Lancashire BMD. I also had a quick look at 1901 census but couldn't find anything that looked relevant. Perhaps somebody else has some ideas. Peter Booth
