Beautifully kept cemetery on the outskirts of a small village, even my 12 year old daughter was touched by the amount of unknown soldier graves. Judith

    3. Hello Kristina, >From the Index I have there is a- Thomas BOOND married Mary EDDLESTON on 18 April 1802 by Banns at St Elphin's Warrington. If you send to Cheshire Record Office they will supply a copy for a nominal fee. There was no mention of Thomas BOND or BOOND marrying an Elizabeth, he could have married at Winwick. Kind regards Jean (Lancs)

    3. Hi there, is there anyone there who has the records for St Elphins around 1800-1810 for marriages ? I am looking for Thomas Boond who married Mary Eddleston around 1802 + or - two years then possibly went on and married a woman named Elizabeth before 1809.( I am assuming Mary died!!) I have birth records for two of his children from St Elphins showing different mothers so would like to tie it all up before moving on. Thanks for any help anyone can offer. Kristina

    3. Jim, Just because a record is not in the IGI is no reason to believe they do not have the church records. You must search the catalog of the LDS Family History Library at FamilySearch. Then rent the appropriate microfilm. Alternately, you might be able to get a researcher to look them up in the Cheshire Record Office http://www.cheshire.gov.uk/Recordoffice/shop/recoffrequestres.htm =============================== Bishop's transcripts for Grappenhall, 1596-1890 Church of England. 2. Karen Bennett
    3. Sandra I am also researching the PLATT family from Warrington (my direct line). But my names are different but I wonder if we can make a connection as I have hit a brick wall. My family is as follows : Thomas Platt b approx 1805 possible death 7 mar 1845 15 garry? St, nl, UK Married : 4 jun 1827, St Nicholas, Liverpool to Anne Barrett/Barrat/Barratt b approx 1811 Ireland children (that I can find so far) John Platt b. 24 apr 1825 Warrington christened 1828 St Pauls Square Thomas Platt b. 1836-39 Toxeth Park, Lancashire christened : 1836 Warrington Benjamin Platt b. 1844, Toxeth Park, Lancashire Possible child as per 1841 census though I can find no other records at this time Joseph Platt b. 1840-41 (he was 7 months old at time of the census) The three above sons that I am positive on all came to Australia and John and Thomas settled in Port Macquarie (I have a fair bit of info on them) and Benjamin stayed in Melbourne and passed away in 1873. I have hit the wall on Thomas (Snr) and his wife, I can find nothing of them in the census after 1841. Benjamin and Thomas Jnr were listed in the 1851 census as being in the West Derby Union Workhouse. Thomas Snr was a Boot and Shoemaker. The death I have is unconfirmed but would make sense to why I can not find him on the 1845 census, but then I can not find his wife either. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could match our families...... 3. Hi all, Just a quick line to let you know that the LANCASHIRE LOOK UP EXCHANGE is now up and running. You can access it directly by going to: http://www.lancs-lookup.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ or by going to: http://aztecrose.tripod.com/LookupExchange.htm and clicking on LANCASHIRE. Thank you to all who have volunteered to help with this project and to those of you that are not able to volunteer, but who have sent messages of support. I am still in need of some more volunteers. To be a volunteer you will need to have access to some Lancashire source ie, trade directories, parish records etc. You can check the site to see the type of thing and also to see what we have covered already. I have plenty of people who are happy to do census look ups and BMDs, but I need the more unusual stuff or those who are happy to go to the records offices. You can be involved as much or as little as you want to be. Offering very general look ups will result in more requests than if you offer to do look ups for one specific parish for example. If you volunteer but then find that it is taking more of your time than you imagined, just drop me a line and we can either amend what requests you will accept, limit the number or take you off the list... nothing is set in stone! Why not volunteer and give it a try! If you would like to volunteer but are concerned about having your email address publicly available, then I have a solution to that too (thanks Lynne!). Just drop me a line off list. I do hope that you find this new site helpful to you in your research. Any comments, criticisms or suggestions are all welcome... off list please. Best Regards, Ailsa Admin - Lancs. Look Up Exchange

    2. Hello List I have just arrived home from Chester Record Office with some good news - at long last the St Paul Parish Registers have been filmed with the exception of a few years in the 1900's. St Barnabus and St Peter have also been filmed. I enquired if Warrington Library will be receiving copies of the films and was told that the films were ready to send to Warrington but the staff could not give me a date when this was to happen.
