I have an interest in the Monks family. I have Ellen MONKS b. 1811 at Padgate married to Thomas PLATT in about 1830, Alice MONKS b.1887, married to Alfred PLATT in 1909 and Jack MONKS married to Martha PLATT (no dates on that one yet). I'd appreciate any connections you may find , Regards, Jackie

I would like to thank everyone who gave me advice and helped me to find my MONKS family. It is appreciated Bernice -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Version: 7.5.441 / Virus Database: 268.18.0/689 - Release Date: 15/02/2007 5:40 pm
Thanks to Jo who recognised the location of Poulton With Fearnhead. A bit tricky for us poor colonials 20,000 km away. I found Joseph Monks and family in 1861 Census. Family was Joseph b1801 Culcheth, Ellen b1805 Poulton, and children George b1839, Elizabeth b1844 and Ann born 1847 all in Poulton. If Bernice looks at FreeBMD or Lancashire BMD or Lancashire Parish Clerk she might find exact BDM information. Peter
Bernice, Hi from Sydney. Last time I looked there were floods in Queensland. Maybe you are west of the divide. I think you'd better provide some details of where you found the birth of Annie Monks. Do you have details of her parents marriage or any other siblings? Perhaps you are looking in the wrong county? The only Poulton that I could find was in Gloucestershire. But if you can provide other names, dates and exact locations or quotes some sources, I'm sure people will try to help. Peter
Hi, I am new to this list I am searching for ANNIE MONKS born circa1848 father JOSEPH mother ELLEN living 1851 in Poulton She is supposed to be married in 1872 to JAMES THOMSON. She is in Australia in 1874. I found her birth but as yet have not found her in 1861 or 1871 census also I cannot find her marriage can anyone help at all? Hello Bernice, If you would like to contact me off line, I maybe able to help you with Monks family history. My family is from the Warrington area and I grew up there. One of my Aunts had an "in law" connection with Monks. Best regards Maureen Qld - now a little wetter --------------------------------- Need Mail bonding? Go to the Yahoo! 'Poulton' would be 'Poulton-with-Fearnhead', just 2 1/2 miles North East of Warrington. Hello Bernice, I have had a look for you and found Joseph MONKS in the 1841 census. They are found living at 'Lodge' Poulton, ref HO107/521/2: Joseph MONKS, 40, Ag Lab - all Yes (b. in Lancs) Ellen, 35 Mary, 10 (1831) Margaret, 8 (1833) Joseph, 6 (1835) John, 4 (1837) George, 1 (1840) I found birth registration references for some of the children at FreeBMD: John Birth Dec 1837 Warrington Vol 20 page 499 George Birth Jun 1840 Warrington Vol 20 page 81 Elizabeth Birth Jun 1844 Warrington Vol 20 page 917 Ann Birth Dec 1847 Warrington Vol 20 page 875 As for Annie Monks marriage - I can not find her marrying a James Thomson in the FreeBMD (that was an all counties search). I have found an Ann Monks married to either a Denis Myers or a John Wadden - Mar 1872 Warrington Vol 8c page 197. I suggest trying the Lancashire BMD site and see if the marriage can be found there. Hope that will help you. Hello all Could any kind soul help please. If anyone is going in to check the Parish Records, could they please do a couple of lookups for me? I would dearly like the record for the births of the following: - Richard Armitage b Warrington 1826, and William Armitage b Warrington 1830 I am sorry but I do not have any other clues to help pinpoint the month. Hoping for the best Heather

John, You don't give residence, birthplace or other occupants of the house. All that is available in 1901 and provides vital clues. Just looking at their ages, you should find them with parents in 1881 or 1891. And just keep working backwards from there. Peter in Sydney

For John Morrison....I have been researching my grandmother Ruth (Cunliffe) Morrison from Warrington who marrier Alfred Morrison 1905 in Prestwich. Had a daugther Hilda in 1906 and a son James (we think). Ruth came to the USA in 1923 from Southport. We do not have any information beyond Hilda's birth. Could this be a Morrison related to your family? -----Original Message----- From: eng-lan-warrington-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:eng-lan-warrington-bounces@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of John Morrison Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2007 11:06 AM To: eng-lan-warrington@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [LAN-WARR] Surname BARROW Hi Peter Good point, I'll add more detail thanks.
