Hi Sue , Have you checked the online 1901 English Census . Victoria is there aged 1 year . To view the rest of the page/entry is chargeable , perhaps someone else on the mailing group may have access and willing to do a look up . Not sure if 1901 Census of Warrington is on michrofiche ? Sorry I can't be of more help from across the ditch !! Best wishes Pauline NZ
On further searching on the 1901 census, I found two more children: William b. 1895 Warrington (20895893) Sarah b. 1898 Warrington (20895895) just from a guess that they'd name their children after themselves really. Jo
Hi Sue, Gleaned from the 1901 census for you: William Smith b. 1866 Warrington, living Warrington - Railway Signal fitter (20895888) Sarah Smith b. 1868 Warrington (20895889) Victoria Smith born 1900 Warrington (Person ID 20895895) These have the same Page ID's 5655159 My guess is that there are further children (going by the jump in Person ID numbers). HTH, Jo
Has anyone out there ever heard of a woman known as Victoria Ladysmith SMITH. I know she is related to my family in Warrington and no doubt lived near Scott Street. SMITH Victoria L married MCEVOY Ernest at Holy Trinity, Warrington in 1924. My dad thought she was a cousin . Has anybody any idea who this lady's parents were? to save me the expense of a birth certificate. Good Morning Listers, After 15 years of denying that my Hankinson's came from Warrington I have found on the 1851 census that my gt.gt grandfather was born in Martinscroft which, as a Lancastrian in London, I remember as being just outside Warrington. Where would I be able to find out about the history of Martinscroft and, if they were Catholic, which church would they have been baptised at? I would be most grateful for any help or suggestions. Regards Marjorie

Hi Everyone, Thanks to you all. I now have the 1841 census details for the Gent's. It is looking more likely that they were in Derby by 1851. Once again Thank You Sue Kinsella. Hi! Deborah, There were 3 churches named St. Paul listed on the site I found. St. Paul Bewsey Rd. St. Paul Penketh, and St Paul Paddington. I think the one you want is the Bewsey Rd one. It was situated between Walker and Arthur Streets and was founded in 1831. I knew it well as I lived in Bewsey St. in the 1940s. I understand it was demolished in the 1970-1980s when the area was renewed. I don't know where their records would now be lodged, perhaps the Warrington Library may be able to help. I found the above information at the following site, http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LAN/WARRINGTON/ Hope this may be of help. Regards, Gerry Gorman Australia
