I have in my tree several individuals who were born in Middleton, but are to be found on Lancashire BMD under the sub district of Chadderton with registers at Oldham. I note that there is a David HILTON born 1839 sub district Chadderton ref CH/1/406 on Lancashire BMD and wonder if this is your man.
