    2. Hi Janet, Thankyou for your reply and your effort. Can you or others give me some advice? My only known Howarth relative is Jane Howarth who was married in St. Mary's in 1829 to Wright Hamilton. I am trying to track Jane's parents and family and thought the burial records you had might yield some clues. Do you know if there are baptismal or birth records for that church? 3. Hello Sarah First let me say, I'm no expert, there are others on this list who have been in this business longer than me and may have different answers for you! But here are my thoughts anyway. You say Jane HOWARTH married Wright HAMILTON in 1829 at St Mary's. Have you seen this entry in the Parish Registers? and if not, where did you get the info from? I'm not sure if, in this period, the records list the names of the fathers of the couple getting married, my own research at Oldham St Mary's does not go this far back. Without getting the fathers name for Jane, I would have thought that it would be almost impossible to be certain that you will have the correct Jane HOWARTH even if there is only one at Oldham. Anyway... Have you checked on the IGI for likely christenings? There are several possibilities, including the following. ( I gave up looking after these two, as it seemed such an impossible task!) JANE HOWARTH Female Christening: 09 MAY 1806 Middleton By Oldham, Lancashire, England Parents: Father: JAMES HOWARTH Family Mother: BETTY JANE HOWARTH Female Christening: 02 OCT 1808 Middleton By Oldham, Lancashire, England Parents: Father: JAMES HOWARTH Family Mother: ANN Hugh Wallis's Batch Numbers site seems to indicate that Oldham St Marys christenings are covered on the IGI for the period you're interested in:- http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm but, I can't see a Jane HOWARTH (or variant) listed. If you decide that one of the entries on the IGI may be yours, you will need to check the enrty in the PR either on film at your local LDS Family History Centre, or by using a researcher or sks from one of these lists to look at it for you in a local library. Hope this has helped a little, and hope that others may also offer their thoughts and ideas! Janet C >From: Nauset01@aol.com >Hi Janet, >Thankyou for your reply and your effort.
