Doreen, I was interested in your comments. Now that I'm certain the majority of my research will centre on Oldham and surrounds, I need to start investing in census cds. ? I think that I should start with 1871 that's when I lose people. I am hoping soon to go down to Oldham to spend a day at Oldham Local Studies and Archives, is this the Oldham LSU you mention? Anne Co. Durham

If you do buy the 1871 census CDs, then Oldham LSU can give you the refs for the surname required (so long as there are not too many of that particular name!).
