Frank A thought- if you wish to restrict your research to the Middleton area initially, why not pop along to Middleton Library where you will find numerous records, Parish Records, Newspaper & Census. Other records can be viewed at Manchester library. No doubt our Doreen will pop up with more advice. You are lucky insomuch that you have had a lot of information passed to you- so it should be easy to check upon it and then work backwards.
