So many people on this list seem to find others who have CDs, records, or will do look-ups. I have written numerous times asking for help with my family members, and have not had any luck thus far. So, I will try once more! I am looking for two names, basically, KAY and WOLSTENHOLME. Specifically, I am looking for census records of John and Rachel (nee Wolstenholme) Kay, married in St. Leonard's, Middleton, October 11, 1840. Would love to know their address and occupation. They should be listed on the 1841 census...they left for America ca.1845. Also, Rachel's address before marriage (parents were James Wolstenholme and Jane, nee Greenhalgh). I have come to a dead end on John Kay of Middleton-would dearly love to learn his parents' names. Also, how would I go about finding baptisms of their children in nonconformists churches?? My thanks to anyone who can help point me in the right direction, or do a look-up! Helen in Germany
Hi Helen, I am one of the guilty ones! You did ask me to look at the 1841 census for KAY and WOLSTENHOLME plus the baptisms. I haven`t been able to do anything for a month or two, but looking through my notes, I see that I had looked at the census and the families were not found in the Middleton area. There are about a dozen pages on this census that are blank and impossible to read. John Kay (s/o James) wasn`t baptised at St Leonards. Checked 1817-1822. Children of John not baptised at the non-conformist churches in Middleton - these are indexed. Will get back to you off-line. If anyone else is awaiting a reply from me - many apologies.
