    3. Hi Doreen, I am a little confused by an email that Alan sent to the list, he says that one of his relatives lived at 9 Townley Street Tongue Middleton in 1880. The reason for my confusion is that I used to own the mill that was the Stationery Shop on Townley Street and we used the number 9 as our address. Jeff Wellens once gave me a copy of an old photograph and the mill was on that, but I can't remember the date of it, I am fairly certain that there was gas lighting on the street, I was just wondering if you had come across this picture or if you knew just how old that mill was, I know I should know but I had thought that it was pre 1900. I know there is quite a few numbers missing down Townley Street and also in the 20 years between 1880 and 1900 the property could have been knocked down especially to build both our mill and Taycal mill. It is not desperately important it is just one of those things that starts to niggle in your brain. Ivy Middleton Manchester

    3. Hi Ivy, Just to confirm that the birth certificate of my grandfather Wilfred Collinge and the 1881 census where his family John & Sarah Ann Collinge + Harry & Wilfred state 9 Townley Street. I would be interested if the building is still standing.
