Hi Allan, thanks for that fascinating piece of history, i will be including it in my records re my VERITY family. As i undesrstand it, because of the Catholic French purging of the Protestant`s in that period, France almost became bankrupt. I read somewhere that on one occasion the French killed 15000 French Protestants in one day, and when the Pope in Rome heard of it, he clapped with joy.
