Hi Neil, Both the 1841 and 1851 census are surname indexed for Middleton and Tonge. No TOMLINSONs on the 1841 for Tonge, Middleton, Alkrington or Chadderton areas. 1851 - 2 mentions, but haven`t got this census at home: HO107/2242. Folios 21 and 127.
