Hello listers, I have been directed here by members on the Lancashire list in the hope that someone may be able to advise me. I understand this list covers the area of my research better than the more general Lancs list. I am trying to trace the death of my FIL's brother MATTHEW EDWARD DUNNE he was known as TED). Matthew was born in Dublin around 1918 and moved to Manchester sometime during the period directly after WW11. Little is know about him, but what is know is that he lived in a flat in the Heaton Park area, was divorced and lived alone. I don't know if he had any children. We have been told that he was found dead in his flat during the spring of 1977, having been dead for anything up to 3 weeks. Certainly he had not been seen by his neighbours during that time. My problem is that I cannot find his death registered in the GRO indexes from 1976 to 1978. I have checked each year in full. My question is this - is there anyone on this list who lives locally to that area and may remember such a case? Perhaps it was in the newspapers? Could anyone give me any info on the local papers, such as what area/s they covered and where I might contact them? As this case is a little unusual, I am hoping that someone may remember roughly when it was and can point me in the direction of which year to search. Failing that I will have to search them all! Thank you. Tracy Tracy Dunne, Poole, Dorset.
