Hello All, I understand from earlier correspondence that the 1861 Census for Oldham has been indexed by surname only. Now that the 1861 Census has been released on CD, I am wondering whether this will make it easier to locate a family in the Census. Apparently there is no index for the whole County yet. I have been trying to trace a RATCLIFFE family and the 1861 Census is the only one that will record them all together. I know they moved to Oldham at some stage, and am trying to find out whether they were there in 1861. If anyone has this new CD, and is able and willing to check the name out for me I would be hugely grateful. The names are James and Ellen RATCLIFFE, Henry aged about 7, Ellen aged about 9 months, and another daughter in between those two. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated thank you. Jan in NZ
