Hi Doreen, Thankyou for the information. I thought the Banns were likely to have their parents names but obviously from what you say they don't. Does this differ with different time periods ?. Here in NZ intentions to marry which are like a registration form contain more information. I understand that Banns were a cheaper option in England. Would I get any more information if I were to get the church records for the marriage? I am familiar with searching in Durham and other parts of Lancashire but am very new to Middleton. Hi Kaaren, Its certainly worth checking the banns books, but from past experience, I haven`t yet found any further info from them. They are usually only small forms in the books. I haven`t yet looked at any for St Leonards though. The marriage certificate that you have, will be an exact copy as in the church records.
