Hi Janet, I'm sorry to say that I didn't find any Moults at all in Middleton, that is in those earlier parich records. I couldn't find any mention of a William Moult. But I did find Moults from Manchester, Salford, Chorlton, Taxal ? (Please don't ask me where that is as I've never heard of it), Reddish, Beswick, Romiley and Allerton. Sorry I can't be of any use with this. The records I have probably don't come to 1785 though, so I can't even discount Middleton for you.
