Hello, I am researching the Wolfenden/Woolfenden family . this has been a 10+year brick wall now! ;-) James Wolfenden, hatter, born c. 1795 in Rochdale, married Ann ??? (from Oldham), sometime before 1817 when they have their first child. All children were baptized at St. Mary's, Oldham. The children were William (1817), James (1819), John (1821), Henry (1825), Mary Ann (1836). can't explain the big gap between Henry and Mary Ann. James dies in 1864 and Ann in 1879. So anyone researching WOLFENDEN, WOOLFENDEN in ROCHDALE or OLDHAM . we have seen some reference (a tombstone at St. Chad's in Rochdale) stating: Here resteth the body of Jonathan Woolfenden Hatter who died Oct 6th 1813 in the 47th year of his age. Samuel son of Jonathan Woolfenden died March 28th 1799 aged 9 mths. Also Henry Woolfenden Hatter who died Jany 9th 1813 in the 79th year of his age. Also Henry the son of Joseph and Mary Woolfenden Painter who died Decr 23rd 1836 in his 2nd year. Obviously the name of Woolfenden and the occupation of Hatter is intriguing . though, no reference to a Jonathan in our family that I have found so far! So, don't know if this is related and it's possible! TIA for any connections, research ideas, data . basically, any assistance would be much appreciated!
