Doreen, You mentioned recently: "Both are at St Stephens Chapel, but neither mention being born in Rhodes - in fact one is from Werneth in Cheshire!" Presumably this is the Werneth near Hyde, but I wonder whether the register specifically named Cheshire. In the 1960s and early 1970s we lived in Werneth, Oldham (Lancs), which would have been across country from Middleton. Of course, there could have been family connections between the Cheshire Werneth and Middleton. Or was St Stephen's a denomination not present near Hyde? Edward
