Hi Doreen Many thanks for your suggestions. I may revisit the 1841 census perhaps with a different cd set - the one I had was not very clear and archive cd books may be better when it comes. You mention census indexes - I used the 1851 index as a first scan but am not aware of an 1841 index? I was hoping St Leonard's baptisms had been indexed. Looks like a short break in Manchester is called for before too long. I also note your priority to find the marriages. I strongly suspect the second marriage may not have occurred. It would have happened near the Hoxton area of London and I have searched many spellings with no success. Finding the first marriage between James Heywood and Elizabeth 'unknown' is harder because I have no idea where it happened. He was born Rhodes/Middleton, Elizabeth In Goodwood Sussex, they were living in London in 1861 and they could have been travelling between London and Middleton for work! I believe I have checked all the possible James Heywood - Elizabeth marriages but I am reluctant to start on H*yw**d over such a large area when the 1861 census entry might be wrong anyway! Again thanks for the help Regards David
