Edward, This is not the Werneth in Oldham. It definitely states Werneth, Cheshire for the Heywood baps. 23 June 1833. James s/o James and Mary Heywood of Werneth, Cheshire. Born 21 Jan 1832. and 2 Aug 1835. Mary Ann d/o James and Mary Heywood. Werneth, Cheshire. Born 6 Dec 1834. There are a couple of earlier baps at St Stephens which may be the same couple, but they were then "of Middleton". They could have moved but wished to baptise the children at the same church as earlier ones. This is only a guess though. The New Jerusalem Chapel on Wood Street has two baptisms where the parents are shown as being from Whiting, USA!! The first was in 1898 (born 1891) and the second in 1899 (born 1886). Parents Harry and Ann Partington. This is a local surname, but I haven`t the time to check earlier census records for this. There are also baps at the Bethel Chapel on Sadler Street for a family from Derbyshire. Doreen. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. Hi Folks I am sorry I have lost track of who is looking for James HEYWOOD but if it is of any help I think I have found the one that Doreen has found the birth for on the 1861 census and there is a definite Middleton and Cheshire connection, also there is a sister in law that might be of help in identifying the correct one.
