Dear Listers, Here are some locations of ancestors found in St Margaret's Hollinwood. They're not Middleton locations, but I hope some one on the list can help identify them. Can anyone identify 'Ralph green', also 'Halfstreet [Ralph green]'? 'Holebottom' ? A Holebottom does show up on the A to Z (and just that - no 'street' following) over in Smallshaw in Ashton under Lyne, which seems a bit far away to still attend St Margaret's Hollinwood from. Was there one closer to the church? One location, 'Long Lane,' I think I have found on the A to Z just off Broadway as it crosses over the M66 into White Gate. It's just managed to avoid being obliterated by the M66. The girl born there in 1823 later in the Censuses says she is from Newton. I suppose it could be considered the very edge of Newton Heath, though it looks to me to be on the boundary between Moston and Chadderton. Does anyone know what the name White gate derives from? A toll bar? John Heywood
