    3. Good morning All! Listed below is what I have. I would appreciate suggestions on where to go backwards from here. Where can I access the 1841 Census? Is there a mailing address for requesting: Marriage record for John and Betty, Birth records for all, and possibly a Death record for Mary? John PILLING is listed as born in Bury Is that close by Middleton? The census taker has Lanaster, but I am certain he meant Lancashire! 1851 CENSUS England>Lancashire>Middleton>Chadderton My ancestors are John and Betty KENT PILLING John PILLING age 42 born Lancaster Bury occ block printer calico Betty 43 born Lancaster Middleton Edward 15 " " Thomas 12 " " John 10 " " Hannah 8 " " Jane 3 " " Mary 2 " " The entire family except for Mary is found in Pennsylvania, USA by 1860 Census. With deep appreciation for any help. Kind regards, Mary McCanney Finley

    3. Hello Mary, John and Betty didn`t marry in Middleton. Could have been at St Marys Prestwich. I don`t think it would have been at Bury as these should be on the IGI. If not at Prestwich, Oldham could be another possibility. (Bury isn`t too far away from Middleton). The daughter Mary would probably have been buried at St Leonards Middleton. My indexes are lacking the 1850s and 60s at the moment. There is a baptism at New Jerusalem Chapel, Wood Street, Middleton that is of interest: 4 Nov 1838, Thomas s/o John and Betty Pilling of Middleton. Born 10 Aug 1838. Could be further details in the register. I didn`t record all details for this church. No other baptisms for the family at this church - have indexed baps, marriages and burials. Again, could be St Leonards (which I haven`t yet done). 1841 census. HO107/544/12. ED 11. 47/14. Water Street. Middleton. John Pilling. 39. Printer. Betty Pilling. ?age. William Pilling. 11. Edward Pilling. 5. Thomas Pilling. ?age. ?? Age 4 mths. All born in county. Perhaps someone has a clearer copy of this census. It is very faded and difficult to read on my CDs. Doreen.
