    3. Hello Ted, Not very good news I`m afraid. Its very difficult researching forward from the 1901 census. The electoral registers, if and where available, are indexed only by streets. So really you can only try and find out how long a person stayed at the last known address for. Once they moved - they could have gone anywhere, and its virtually impossible to find them from this source. You could search the BMD indexes to see whether Joseph married late, and whether he had any children. The certificates would give an address to work from. These searches unfortunately take quite a bit of time, but theres not really another option. Also his death cert will have an address, if you could find mention of him in the indexes. There could have been an obit in the local newspapers which, if lucky, could give some info on his life. I`m not sure whether there are trade directories available for Rawtenstall - perhaps someone on the list knows - but in the larger towns, these are indexed in 3 categories, one of which is surnames. Probably not available like this for Rawtenstall. Doreen.
