Hi Keith Some time ago, frustrated by continuously having to trawl through the same areas of the 1841 Census for Oldham below Town on CDs, I made a "sort-of" index of surnames. It's by no means comprehensive, but did include a few GREENHALGH families, which I'll list below. All are in Oldham below Town HO107 547/6 Folio 5 Page 1 King Street Mary GREENHALGH, 65, Inn Keeper, Y Martha GREENHALGH, 30, Y Mary GREENHALGH, 25, Y Richd. GREENHALGH, 45, Y HO107 547/9 Folio 34, Page 15 Manchester St North Side Charles GREENHALGH, 26 , Carder, Y Catherine GREENHALGH, 25, Y Mary Ann GREENHALGH, 4, Y Selina GREENHALGH, 18 months, Y Jane GRIFFITHS, 45, F.S., Y HO107 547/14 Folio 11 Page 16 Coldhurst St Joseph GREENHALGH, 15, Y HO107 547/15 Folio 21 Page 35 Henshaw? St Hannah GREENHALGH, 40, Coal? Lab, Y Amelia GREENHALGH, 20, Y John GREENHALGH, 15, Y William GREENHALGH, 10, Y George GREENHALGH, 7, Y Elizabeth GREENHALGH, 4, Y Silvester GREENHALGH, 1, Y I realise they don't fit the criteria you listed, but they may at some point help you if you attempt family reconstruction in that area. Someone else may have an 'official' Name Index for the 1841 or may be able to offer you some other straws to clutch at... I do hope so! Good luck. I have been able to trace a William Greenhalgh, >born 8/9/1843 to William & Hannah Greenhalgh in Oldham. > >Census suggests there is another William born to William & Betty >Greenhalgh., of Oldham This is confirmed by the 1851 & 1861 censuses. _________________________________________________________________ Be the first to hear what's new at MSN - sign up to our free newsletters! http://www.msn.co.uk/newsletters
