Margaret thank you so much for your reply. I remember visiting my gran (Gladys Styles) there in the 1960s. I remember going to the canal as well, I didnt realise the area was called Slattocks though so thank you for that. Her cottage always seemed so exciting as a child, the funny little stairs up to the bedroom and the outside toilet!. It was always immaculate. My neices have been asking me about them.
