    2. Wow Sylvia! I think the first bunch is mine... You have allowed me to crack a second secret that I've been struggling with: who were Robert Hamilton's siblings. Now I have the whole lot of them. I'm thinking Robert was the oldest child of Wright and Jane. He moved out by the 1861 census. Robert's widow and child (Sarah Emerson and John Hamilton) were at this address of School Fold by the 1881 census. I am so very grateful to you for this information. Sarah Hamilton

    2. Dear Sylvia, That would be great. Yes, the source of these names was the IGI but I am not the original researcher. In terms of other addresses that may or may not be helpful: * I have no address info for John and Hannah Hamilton. * For Robert Hamilton and Sarah Emerson Hamilton, School Fold in Unsworth, Pilkington, 1855; for same in 1851 only knowledge is they were married at St. Michael's Tonge in Oldham. *From Sylvia,1861 census Unsworth, Pilkington -- Hollins Lane address for Robert Hamilton, Sarah Emerson Hamilton  and John Hamilton son  all born Prestwich. * For Wright Hamilton and Jane Howarth Hamilton, Oldham is listed on marriage cert. in 1829. * Jane Howarth relatives include a Joseph Howarth in 1855, at at the address of 59 Eton Hill Rd., in Radcliffe.  In 1855 there is an address for James Howarth at 35 Lily Hill St., Whitefield.  * Wright Hamilton and Elizabeth Hamilton, Hillock Lane, Pilkington 1848. *65 Edwards Street, Pilkington, for John Howarth in 1891. Thank you again.. Sarah H.

    3. Hi Doreen Thank you for looking for me. I haven't got a date as such but the family grave in Rochdale Cemetery was purchased on 1/11/1855 and the rest of the family are in this grave, Jane would have been born about 1777. I am hoping if I can find her burial it will give me a birth date. 3. I believe these stories are invaluable to our collections Mike. I certainly will ask mum when I speak to her next. She's an ex St.Gabriels school girl if anyone else is familiar and she married in that church. All our Clayton family worked at mill at one time. The youngest of my Grandmother's sisters is still living and she told us that she worked her first year at the mill for nothing ! 2. Hi Sylvia and Doreen, Thanks again for this info... Sylvia, is there any info on the names of the children living with Wright and Jane Hamilton at this address in 1861? I am trying to find any siblings related to my g-g-ggrandfather Robert Hamilton. This census data is terrific since it's the first I've learned of any other children to Wright and Jane. They are also at the address of birth for their grandson (my greatgrandfather, confirmed by birth certificate)!! Are there other Howarths in the immediate area of School Fold or do I need to give you a street address for this census search? Do you have any other Hamiltons as follows: Hamiltons at Unsworth born to John & Hannah-- below are siblings to Wright Hamilton, whose parents are John & Hannah Hamilton. Thos    7  Dec  1788 Sally   10 Oct 1790 Wm     9th Oct 1792 John   15th Feb 1795 Robt    25th Oct 1796 Jas     27th Jan 1799 Geo    21 Dec 1800 I'd be most grateful for any additional info you could provide. Sincerely, Sarah Hamilton US/Mass.

    3. Well Mike, You certainly know how to stir things up, don't you! How many lists are you on, and have you done the same to them all? I have enjoyed reading your bits and pieces about "the good old days". I am one of those unfortunate folks who have family from that area but have never been there myself. My mother was born in Chadderton but left when she was about 5 or 6yrs. old and moved to Suffolk. My grandparents had little of their Lancashire accents left by the time I came along and I only met some of the aunts and uncles about twice. I remember being fascinated by the way they talked, even when I didn't understand all they were saying. Anyway, thanks for getting us all going again and thanks also to Doreen who is always there with a helping hand. And while I'm at it here are my Lancs names DAVIES(Davis) - Tongue & Little lever & Darcy Lever SHAW & WOOLLEY - Stalybridge PROCTOR - Oldham (from about 1895 on) I also wonder if anyone has any of the following marriages in their files: Sarah Davies & Alfred BUTTERWORTH 1896 Hanah Davies & William BRADLEY 1888 Alice Davies & William WHITEHEAD 1874 Chadwick Davies & Mary RAMSDEN about 1850 Best wishes and Good Hunting to all. Marina

    3. Thank you Bill. Unfortunately Wild was a common name in the area - I've collected hundreds of them - and I can't find a link to Abraham. If there is a link it is further back than I've been able to go with my family. Thanks anyway. I've had a look at all the stuff I've collected for my families in the area and found the following Rhodes mentioned (both in Middleton parish): James Dawson, weaver, of this parish, married Mary Rhodes, widow, on 6 Feb 1815; Esther Wild, of this parish, married Benjamin Rhodes, of this parish, innkeeper on 2 May 1831. Good luck with your hunt. Dorothy
