Hi List, Just doing a look up as a favour for a chappie in the USA. I have checked the birth index for twins Mary and Edmund Lord born 13 Jan 1862 in the Heywood area and found two entries at both Bury and at Rochdale; However I would have expected the two babies to have consecuative birth entries but neither of the two registration districts came up with a consecutive pair of numbers. Mary Lord 8c 432 Bury Jan Feb Mar quarter 1862 Edmund Lord 8c 435 Bury Jan Feb Mar quarter 1862 Mary Lord 8e 37 Rochdale Jan Feb Mar quarter 1862 Edmund Lord 8e 44 Rochdale Jan Feb Mar quarter 1862 For those of you who don`t know, Rochdale is about three miles to the east of Heywood and Bury about three miles to the west. Has anyone experience of birth entries for twins c1862 as I really do not like to trouble the registrars office if I can avoid it. Kind regards Sylvia
The first marriage to take place at St Michaels Tonge was in June 1840. This marriage isn`t on the Middleton Marriage Index. Have you tried St Marys Prestwich - which was the mother church for the area? Hello Doreen, Just wondering if you were able to find any of the information I had asked you about regarding John Kay and Rachel Woolstenhulme, his baptism record at St. Leonard's, parents' name, any address, and any information in the 1841 census? Thank you. Kind regards, Helen
Does anyone have access to the parish record of St James, Oldham and could give me any information about the marriage of Herbert Rickett to Sarah Marlor in 1894, between March and June.
I am looking for information about the marriage of William Thornley to Elizabeth Berry between 1835 and 1838. I think it was at St Michaels Church, Tonge. Does anyone have access to the parish register?
Thank you Doreen. Sarah
Dear Doreen, after sending my enquiry I went back to trawling the 1861 census and was lucky enough to find my SMITH family on Oldham Road. Alexander was one of the youngest children so the marriage was in 1836. I was lucky again in finding the marriage on the IGI at Bolton where Margaret the wife was born. Their first child was baptised at the same church St Peter's. It goes to show how wrong you can be in assuming they would have had their children in the first 20 years. They had one at 23 still at home and one at 3 months. The last two born at Middleton. I believe John was two years younger than his wife ( I found her baptism) but in 1861 they were the same age but by 1881 he was two years older. I now have the family on three census. I am going back to trawl for FOGG now. BTW John Smith was born Middle Hulton. Thanks for trying to help. Regards Joan
