Hi Jim, Sorry I can not check Heywood for you today as a friend has borrowed my index. If you would like me to check later in the week please let me know, it is no trouble, or if you have an address I can check without my index. Hi Jim, They don`t appear on the 1891 Middleton census. There are 3 WOODCOCK families: Alexander (born Cumberland) and Elizabeth with 2 children; John (born Preston) and Esther with children; James (born Manchester) and Ellen with son Francis. Hello, I am trying to research my wife's family in the Middleton area, and have got stuck on Jane Schofield who shows up with her children in the 1881 census. She lists her place of birth as Middleton, with her three children all being born in Tonge. She was 45 year old. Does SKS have access to the 1851 census and a little time to look up Jane Schofield who would have been about 15 at the time. I am interested in finding out who her parents and siblings were. > Regards > > Stephen Edwards
Hi Neil, Samuel Kenyon doesn`t appear on the Middleton marriage indexes. There is an Alice Kenyon marrying 24 May 1861 at Middleton St Leonards to James Fletcher. Can check this with the registers on Monday, unless someone is going to the library before then. You will find a lot of marriages (after 1837) now on the Lancs BMD site - http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk If found in this index, perhaps SKS could look at the PRs for you. The Middleton burial index is incomplete as yet (still ongoing). Found below, but not sure whether this is of yours: Middleton St Leonards. Burial 4 Nov 1876. Mary widow of Joseph Kenyon of Middleton. Age 87 yrs. No grave number given. Haven`t got Joseph on the index, but have done 1871 onwards, so he could have died before that date. None of the family named in number 2 graveyard either (have copies of this and am indexing and checking the details). Don`t know the history of Kenyon Lane. Could be info at the lib. Sylvia, Thanks so much for these names! At this point the only way I can confirm this is my grandparents Heywood marriage license which lists John Whalley as the father, and Thomas Whalley as the witness, for John Whalley. I am going to try to get to the UK in 05, but are there other routes to substantiate this that I can follow online from Melbourne? Again, thanks for helping. I do enjoy this online community!
