I am new to this list and would like to know if anyone is researching the ECKERSLEY family in the Tyldesley area. My earliest known is my gg-gf: John ECKERSLEY , b abt 1834 in Tyldesley, based on info in the census. He died between 1881 and 1891, and was a Coal Miner, living at 7 Ashwell St. in 1881 census. m. Leigh district June qtr 1867 to Ann LOWE, b. abt 1836 in Clifton, may have died 1898. I don't know if Lowe was a birth name or previous marriage name. However, she was the mother of twin girls, Mary Jane and Betsy Ann Lowe, b. 1862 in Warrington district. They lived with the Eckersley family in 1881, listed as daughters. In 1891 census Ann, widow, was living at 8 Market St., Tyldesley. She may have died as Ann Eckersley, age 62, Wigan district, March qtr 1897. Children: Mary Jane LOWE, b. 1862, m. abt 1890 Thomas Armstrong Betsy Ann LOWE, b. 1862 James ECKERSLEY , b. abt 1868 Tyldesley, living in Tyldesley with mother in 1891, no further record. Jane ECKERSLEY , b. 1873 Tyldesley, m. 1890 Tyldesley David Roach, b. abt 1869 Tyldesley Children, Roach: Annie, John, Margaret, Joseph, Catheine, David. Catherine "Kitty" married ___Curwen. John ECKERSLEY (my g-gf), b. 1875 Tyldesley, m. abt 1895 Margaret TURNER from Preston. The family immigrated to Fall River, Massachusetts, USA in 1913, where both John and Margaret died. Children: Elizabeth, Ivy Annie, Alice, John Thomas, Thomas John, Ellen. (all to Fall River) I would like to be able to identify John Sr.'s parents, as well as determine Ann's birth surname, if LOWE or not. I do not yet have their marriage record info. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone can identify or connect to this family, I would be most delighted to share info.
