Dear listers, My ggggg grandmother was an Ann RICHARDSON whom I think was born abt 1767 in Atherton. She married Samuel Part who became a mill owner inTyldesley. I am just starting on the Richardson line. One of the curious things is that a number of branches of the family have used the name Richardson as a first or second name over many generations, presumably because they wish to maintain some connection with the family name. Can I assume from this that there was a Richardson family of some significance living in the Atherton/Leigh area around the end of the 1700s and beginning of the 1800s? Can anyone with local history knowledge identify a RICHARDSON family about this time? I'd love to browse some local history books, but I'm afraid that is not possible from the other side of the world. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
