Quick potted history Thomas D was born in Manchester circa 1838 - 1845. ! father also Thomas D a bricklayer. The younger Thomas was a bargeman and married Mary Grimshaw in Wigan in 1860 and they had children James D born 1867 Alfred 1870 Mary Alice 1876 Walter 1870 They lived in Chapel Walk off King St. Eldest son James - well the eldest Ive found to date - moved to Westleigh ( Kirkhall Lane) and eventually started a cab company going from Westleigh to Leigh. It became Davies's coach and funeral business. James married Jane Pemberton and they had children : Thomas Beatrice William - my grandfather Lawrence Florence James So much for the quick potted history. Let me know if there is any interest.
