My 3G Grandfather, Charles HULME, a Leigh resident, died on 9th January 1866 at Chequerbent when he was hit by a railway train. There was an inquest on 11th January. There might have been a newspaper report about it. Was this the Bolton-Leigh railway line? Was there a local newspaper in Leigh or surrounding area at that time? Where are the copies kept?
