    2. Dave, This thread could go on forever, but as you have explained to our world listers, perhaps I can attempt to explain a little more. Leyther (person born in Leigh) is from the dialect, the way we say Leigh is Leyth. Cowyed (or Keawyed) is just the way we say Cow Head,here in Westhoughton, and as I am a Cowyed or these days we like to be called Howfeners (Howfen is our way of saying Westhoughton)....perhaps we have gone up-market a bit! (he-he!) Pie-eaters (Wigan folk) - got to say that our Belgian friend always makes a bee-line for the wonderful meat & potato pies made in Wigan. I hesitate to go on.....but where do "PETTY DOOR BANGERS" come from? Pam Clarke in Westhoughton Benters (Atherton folk from the area of Chowbent) yes, I agree, we need some more info. on this. Bongser (Tyldesley folk, is this from Tydesley Banks?) All I do know is that they sold wonderful BONGS Toffee!
