Hi Gavin Do you 'earn' these nick-names *only* if you live there? I was born in Lowton St. Mary's, but never lived there. It would be nice if I could say I was a 'Lowtonian' or whatever, rather than a Mancunian - not that there's anything wrong with being a Mancunian, but it's rather generalised. Hi Pauline - Not too sure: I wasn't altogether overjoyed at the Lowton Sparrow. I've never lived there - but visited on three occasions - my Father was from there - came to NZ 1911 as a teenager - never got dust in his eyes - and as I am scratching around and the info I want seems always behind me, perhaps I do qualify for the title!
