Dear Listers, In case this news hasn't drifted your way, RootsWeb has a new search engine that will search all the archived messages of all of the mailing lists at the same time. The new search engine is still in the beta stage, but seems to work beautifully. Boolean operators can be used, i.e., to search on multiple keywords or to eliminate words from the search, just precede the word with a plus or minus sign, etc. (See http://lucene.apache.org/java/docs/queryparsersyntax.html for more information on how the search function and software work.). Remember that unlike the browsable archives, messages are not immediately available to search, so if you're looking for something that was posted an hour ago, it probably won't turn up in your search results. You can try the new search engine out at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/search No moaning and groaning here, please. ;-) Any problems with the new search engine should be reported to the Help Desk <http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/form1.html> Enjoy! Best wishes, Lynne
