    2. Hi Everybody here are the notable events for 1933:- Aviator Jim Mollison visits Blackpool (14th January) Big Freeze-up. Skating on Stanley Park lake. (January) Bellringers from Holy Trinity, Bolton, rang a peal of 5.000 changes of Little Bob Major at Bispham All Hallows Church. (7th January) New Super Greyhound Track opened at Squires Gate. (7th April) "The Book of Talbot"award winning biography of the late Squire of Lytham and Marton, by Mrs J. T. Clifton, published. (11th May) Lord Derby lays foundation stone of New Whinney Heys. (Victoria Hospital) (9th June) First Quaker Wedding in Blackpool (28th June) Watch Committee seek legal ruling on the opening of Sunday cinemas. (August) Charles B Cochrane visits Blackpool. (13th September) Duke of Atholl at Blackpool. (20th September) A year of great unemplyment and hardship. Thats all for now. 1934 coming next. Jacqui

Thank you Jacqui, my Dad would have been aged 8 during these events, must have been during the Big Freeze-up that he learnt to skate, as he bought these skills with him to Oz and won many skating competitions, it always fascinated me to watch him, he tried to teach Mum, but she just ended up with bruises from head to toe. Also his family are buried at All Hallows, Bispham, wondering if photos of this cemetery are on the net ?
