    3. Hi Its another lovely day so far on Daisy Hill, it's nice here but wish I was back in Blackpool. Here are the notable events for 1939:- Poor season at Blackpool due to uneasy international situation. Pleasure Beach fire. Indian Theatre destroyed (27 September) Vast building projects in hand, including New Casino, Pavilion on North Pier, Opera House, New Derby Baths, Harrowside Sun Shelter and Lounge; 18 miles of sewers (up to 8ft 6ins square); widening of Highfield Road to 60ft, between St Annes Road and Common Edge Road; St Walburga's Road widened to 64ft; Vicarage Road, Cherry Tree Road and Clifton Road widened to 60ft; Talbot Road widened to 65ft., including demolition of property between Larkhill Street and Eccleston Road. Thats all for now. 1940 next
