Jackie This is brilliant. I was puzzling my brain to work out the wife of Walter de Freece, Vesta Tilley, yes that`s it. Anchorsholme and Little Bispham still flood at time, so this was money well spent? Protests against Central Beach, (Golden Mile) "an eyesore.....the happy hunting ground of cheap penny gaffs". Improvement Act contains a clause prohibiting "offensive and objectionable exhibitions of human persons". Nothing new re the above. There are constantly letters in the paper regarding the "offensive" items on view in shop windows and the eyesore of the Golden Mile. Grand National was my favourite ride. Great fire. Municipal Offices and Messrs. Boots, Corporation Street, burned down. Fireman killed. (7th October) This fire was a very bad one and there was an article in the paper not long ago. A lot of the Town Hall records were lost, some of them were the Electoral Rolls, which means there are lots of gaps in the years that are available now. Thanks for these, who on earth was Baron Stamp, sounds like something out of a Pantomime. Olive
