I was rushing to send the e-mail before I went to work this morning and consequently missed out the fact that it was a birth certificate and missed the fact that I had typed the wrong date! I'm very sorry to have sent you all looking on a wild goose chase. Thomas Evans was another relation but I am actually looking for the birth of Frederick Evans. I downloaded the image off 1837 and it is in the third quarter of 1858. I am so very sorry I gave the wrong name; I haven't got a clue where the 1884 came from! I hope to go to the library this weekend but if anyone can check before then, it is definitely Frederick and definitely 1858. I apologise again for being totally wrong in my previous e-mail! Rather that you spend your time looking for me, let me look myself. If you could tell me how to view these on ancestry I could look for things myself in the future, without having to confuse the people reading this list! Thanks, Stephen.

    3. Hello again I haven't seen a reply from anyone else on the list, so hope that you will find the following of use. I've looked at Ancestry again - the image is unclear, but it looks to me like 6b 332. If you apply to the local registrar for a copy of the certificate, you don't need to quote the reference number at all. They just need to know the full name and quarter (although any additional info you can offer, such as parents' names, is welcome). Once again, the Genuki site is very helpful - http://cheshirebmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/index.html - lists all the registration districts and if you follow the one you're interested in it will give phone number for you to contact whichever registar now holds the Penkridge records. They are usually very helpful on the phone. Have you tried looking at www.ancestry.co.uk for the BMD indexes? As I am a subscriber, my computer automatically puts my password etc in, so I dont know how it works for non-members, but I've been told you can access the records and images for free. Good luck Janet C >From: stephengenuki@tinfoil.cotse.net >Reply-To: stephengenuki@tinfoil.cotse.net, eng-lan-fylde@rootsweb.com >To: Janet C <eng-lan-fylde@rootsweb.com> >Subject: Re: [FYLDE] [ENG-LAN-FYLDE] GRO index 1884 Q3 >Date: Thu, 17 Aug 2006 23:02:05 +0100 > > > I've checked the third quarter 1884 births on Ancestry, but can't see >your > > Thomas Evans. > > >Hello, > >I'm sorry for causing you inconvenience, I've made a terrible mess of >things! > >I was rushing to send the e-mail before I went to work this morning >and consequently missed out the fact that it was a birth certificate >and missed the fact that I had typed the wrong date!
