Hello, I am also interested in the SWARBRICK family, but mainly in those who were born or lived in Thornton, Carleton and Thistleton. Thomas SWARBRICK born in Carleton about 1835, married Agnes KIKHAM born in Thornton on 6 Mar 1834. They had 8 children. Agnes died on 7 Sep 1909 and Thomas died on 22 Apr 1914. They were both buried at Great Eccleston. Agnes Kirkham was a daughter of James Kirkham, a farmer at Whitesides in Thornton, and Elizabeth BALL. Two of Agnes's older sisters, Ann and Elizabeth were both gg-grandmothers of my husband Frank. There are a very large number common Fylde names among the families listed in detail on my website at www.lupton2.freeserve co.uk in the history section. See the page on the Kirkhams to see a tree showing the above connection to Swarbricks but also another, perhaps not the same Swarbrick family, two generations later. Regards, Barbara Lupton
Hello all Well I ordered 2 certificates and they have arrived. I had found a reference to a marriage between James CROWTHER and Sarah Alice BLACK in 1902 in St Stephen, Salford. I had hoped she would be his first wife. His second was my great aunt Helen Lydia RUSHTON. They were married c1908 and he died in 1910. The father of this James CROWTHER turned out to be a Richard Crowther, wrong father, also James was too young, 23 not about 10 years older.. HOWEVER The death certificate of Sarah Alice CROWTHER, who died in 1905 might be correct. The husband is in the correct profession, Carder in a Cotton mill, however her surname is listed as ORMONROYD. I have found what I assume is her family on the 1891 and 1881 censuses, father John T and mother Mary A, siblings Joseph and Bertha, however when going through the GRO I cannot find a marriage for her, ie CROWTHER and ORMONROYD. Any ideas. I would also like to know if 9 Albion Avenue, Bispham is or was a hotel. Sarah Alice died there in 1905 and in 1908 when Helen Lydia married her James Crowther the address they gave was Albion Hotel, Bispham.!!!!!! Regards beth in NS
