    1. [FYLDE] New Lancaster mailing list - area covered
    2. olive
    3. Hello Lynn Thanks for the email. I just thought I would post the following just to jog people`s memories about Fylde areas. Fylde Created 1st July 1837 Sub-districts : Blackpool; Fleetwood; Kirkham; Lytham; Poulton-le-Fylde GRO volumes : XXI (1837-51); 8e (1852-1930) Bispham with Norbreck, Blackpool, Bryning with Kellamergh, Carleton, Clifton with Salwick, Elswick, Fleetwood, Freckleton, Greenhalgh with Thistleton, Hardhorn with Newton, Kirkham, Layton with Warbreck, Little Eccleston with Larbreck, Lytham, Marton, Medlar with Wesham, Newton with Scales, Poulton le Fylde, Ribby with Wrea, St. Annes on Sea, Singleton, Thornton, Treales Roseacre and Wharles, Warton, Weeton and Preese, Westby with Plumpton. Registers now divided between Blackpool and Fleetwood & Fylde districts. Blackpool Registers are still at Blackpool, the others in the area are now in the new Preston Register Office. Guess Lancaster list covers from the River Wyre to the south and to the east, well maybe the edge of the County and north, not sure how far, again maybe the County boundary. Olive

I'm sure I used the info on GENUKI to determine the boundaries, but I'll be damned if I can find that info now. How about that area around Lancaster north to Cumbria, east to that "Y" county <vbg>, and south /south-east to the area encompassed by the Fylde? It doesn't look like the Preston list covers Garstang and Cockerham, so you're more than welcome to discuss these areas on the Lancaster list. Of course, you're always safe in posting to LancsGen. Best wishes, Lynne

    3. resending message Hello all I have a possible marriage in 1902 between James Crowther and Sarah Alice Black in Salford and a death of a Sarah Alice Crowther in Fylde in 1905. Sarah was 26 when she died. I am wondering if any others on the list are researching these families. Sarah would have been the first wife of James Crowther, the second was my g aunt Helen Lydia Rushton, in 1908. I sent this to the LANCS list earlier with no luck. I am only guessing that Sarah Alice Black married James Crowther. I checked on the GRO list for marriages between 1901 and 1908 and then checked for deaths. Even the 1911 won't help as both marriages took place between 1901 and 1911 and he died in 1910. She is only in the family briefly, so sadly not worth buying lots of certificates to prove her identity. I just like to tidy up all loose ends. Regards beth in NS
