In the olden days it was known as Daisy Hillock and boasted a Workhouse, a Lockup and a couple of "witches". It is about an hours drive away from Blackpool but as I dont drive sometimes it feels like a million miles away. We have a park and a small railway stationA couple of shop, a pub and a church, and thats about it. Regards Jacqui

    3. Frank Maybe I did not make my message clear. This list from the Maritime site gives a list of ships wrecks etc. and some dates etc. There are no names of people there. What I meant was that there could be a link to the buried bodies of unnamed people. Sorry about this, but the burial register for Freckleton and other Churches includes entries which say - body of man washed up on shore etc. I am sorry, I thought it would be a help if you could not find someone and you could query that a body found on or about such a date may or may not be connected with one of the ships that was wrecked. The trouble is that there is a lack of Coroners records, I did ask at the Record Office and the reply was that many of them were just thrown away. Have you someone lost by drowning? Olive

    3. Fleetwood's Maritime History. Morecambe Bay Wrecks. Fleetwood's Maritime Heritage. The maritime past of the port of Fleetwood. The docks, the ships and the Manx and Belfast steamers. Someone sent me the above. Just had a look and there are lists of vessels lost from Barrow to Lytham, so if anyone has any interest in maritime history it is worth a look. There are many people buried in graves with an entry in the burial register of All Hallows and Freckleton and others. Man found drowned, child found drowned, etc. so finding all these names of boats is quite an eye opener. Maybe something on the list of wrecks is of use to someone out there. Olive
