Hi, The following message was sent to Tree Tops by Les Hampson regarding his company’s proposal for Barton Methodist Church. I fear that they have more to do with selling newspapers than accurately informing the public. Abbotsound Ltd does not intend to exhume any remains on the above site in order to build the 32 apartments. Abbotsound Ltd has worked closely with Salford Planners and conservation officers in order to come up with a satisfactory developement which is sympathetic to the local residents and the families of the people buried there. The Company has also forwarded a copy of the proposed developement along with all existing site plans to the Home Office who based on this information do not consider that we require a licence as no remains are to be disturbed. However as there is a possibility that there maybe remains that are not marked on the documentation available the Home Office recommended that we apply for a licence anyway. Hence the 2 statutory notices on the 13th and 20th of December in the local Advertiser. Mark Iles. the reporter accepts that the headlines in the Advertiser on 3rd of January are misleading, to say the least, and arrangements have been made to rectify the situation.
