Hi, May I suggest you take a look at www.salfordonline.com This is a great website covering this area and contains many hundreds of photographs both past and present. It is an INTERACTIVE web site that enables you to add your own entries once you have signed up. EVERYTHING IS FREE and there is a Noticeboard, Find Old Friends, The Way We Were, Memorabillia as well as a fabulous section on Salford in Pictures which includes Eccles and surrounding areas. I suggest you give it a try as I know of others who have found what they were looking for here on this site. I can get full details of U77 (I think) from a friend who specialises in U-boat history.
