    3. Good afternoon everyone The Free Census project aims to transcribe ALL the UK 19th century census returns to create an online 'free-to-view' database. We have projects covering the 1891 returns for Bolton, Ormskirk, Wigan, Leigh, Preston, Fylde & Garstang. There are two more projects in the pipeline for Bootle, Kirkby & Liverpool. All of these projects need volunteers. We would also like to recruit organisers to cover the rest of the 1891 Lancashire returns. To be a transcriber you just need some time, a computer and access to a microfiche reader. Or if you could use the 1891 discs. Everything you need is provided by the project, including software and microfiche. Organisers recruit and supervise a team of volunteers to transcribe a county or part of a county. The area you cover is up to you. If, like us, you believe that this information should be freely available and available for free, just drop me a line.
