Hi All, BARTON WESLEYAN CHAPEL BARTON-UPON-IRWELL The City of Salford Panel Meeting for the decision on the demolition of the chapel and the construction of a car park on half of the graveyard, will be heard in the Committee Room at Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton commencing at 10:00am, 16th May 2002. English Heritage and the Manchester Archaeological Unit have visited the chapel, but no interest seems to have been taken in the graveyard. If planning permission is granted, it is expected that the chapel will be demolished almost immediately, and I expect access to the graveyard will cease while work is in progress. This could well be the last chance for you to view ancestors graves and take photo's before the old portion of the graveyard is covered by a car park.
