    3. Yes I have access to the film Carol, but I'm sorry I can't offer lookups. There is a big problem, namely, no index or anything like that. Hence, names have to be painstakingly searched for under each church by starting at the beginning and continuing to the end. Not a happy prospect if there are several eager Listers requesting information, especially if the names turn out not to be there after all!! I will see if I can give some examples of the information on the film in a few days and this will help others to decide if they want to look at the film themselves. It might be worth pointing out though that, particularly for St Mark's which I concentrated on, there were three unexpected bonuses that helped me a good deal. They were 1/ In some cases, brief one-line street addresses or the place name where the grave owner lived, or where individuals who were interred had been living, had been pencilled in. 2/ I found that the full names of one particular ancestor of mine were written and provided an unknown given name ( not even shown on her birth or marriage certificates!) that enabled me to identify her maternal grandmother (from 100s of miles away in Scotland) with certainty. 3/ Sometimes, not all those interred in a grave had the same surname. This again helped me to link individuals and families and made me sure of some information that had only previously been a possibility. It seems to me that this type of unexpected information is what gets us through those brick walls. On photocopying mine I have also got a copy of somebody elses. Checking the surnames already sent to me I did the same search on these inscriptions. Hope they help somebody. 3. How about writing to >The Advertiser,>Church St>Eccles>M 30 0DF >>This is the local paper >>>> Now there's a good idea. does anybody get this newspaper. My deputy and I have this strange 'hobby' of collecting the Family Announcements pages from modern day Newspapers. I started it in 1992 just collecting from my local paper, Julie blames me for getting her started in 1999 on her local ones and since then people from all over the country have been sending us envelopes filled with bits of newspapers. Julie even found a bag on her doorstep one day, donor unknown. It has got to the stage that people fetch us newspapers back from holiday instead of a stick of rock The point is that they will be a very useful index for the future, we collect all the birth, marriages and death announcements etc but only index the deceased on the computer, though we do also save other interesting titbits as well, 100th birthday photos, Golden wedding anniversaries etc. Not much of the paper left by the time we have finished with it. Yes we know we are mad and that it will not be of much use in our life time but don't you just wish somebody had done this in the 1800's. So, if anybody gets the Eccles paper and would be willing to donate the Announcement pages they would be eagerly accepted (as would any others) In Hope, Carol - List Owner (Tree Tops) FAMILY TREE & WE’LL MEET AGAIN - Free Query Service: SKY NEWS British TV Text Pages 267 & 268, http://freespace.virgin.net/tree.tops/ http://freespace.virgin.net/tt.indexes/ http://freespace.virgin.net/genealogical.collections

    3. Hello Carol / List, I'm not sure how much of this thread I have missed, but just in case no one else has pointed out the following, I will do so. LDS film 1786241 contains monumental inscriptions (1800-1900) for Barton Wesleyan Chapel and for George St. Patricroft Independent Cemetery plus similar records + burials for several other churches in the immediate area. It is very good for St Mark's, Worsley, where I found graves of my ancestors, and St Peter's, Swinton. Those were my main interests. 3. Hi Larry, In the Barton Wesleyan burial ground there are three burial plots with the number 34. Over the last four months a lot of effort has gone into trying to sort out who is buried where. The front graveyard plot number 34 is where your ancestors are buried and the plot has been grassed over. From a list of inscriptions it seems that there is no gravestone, or the gravestone was covered and not recorded. From the developers plans as I remember the front burial ground is to remain grassed over, but there will be a footpath for access to the flats. Hope this is helpful, Roger Hart, Little Lever, Bolton, UK. I'm especially interested in Solomon Allred, born 1680, son of John and Ellen Pemberton ALLRED (5th generation). I am hoping to prove he migrated to America in the early 1720's. A Solomon ALLRED is listed on the Chester County, Pennsylvania (West Nottingham township) tax lists for 1724, 1726 and 1730. Could this be the same man?
